Opened in 1899 on an island in the Seine, the dog cemetery at Asnières-sur-Seine is home to thousands of animals, including the Saint Bernard Barry. At Père-Lachaise, by contrast, no animal is buried: the creatures one encounters there are either living, or carved in stone.
