Born in Saxony in 1755, Hahnemann founded homeopathy at the end of the eighteenth century and spent the end of his life in Paris, where he died in 1843. First buried at Montmartre, his body was transferred to Père-Lachaise in 1898, following a decision by an international homeopathy congress; on his monument, an engraving error mistakenly gives 1786 as his year of birth.
